Morristown: The Hub of East Tennessee

As the hub of East Tennessee, Morristown serves as a major transportation and distribution center. More than 100 regional, national and international industries in Hamblen County export a broad range of products across the country and around the world.

Highways

Hamblen County is located at the intersection of Interstates 40 and 81 and offers easy access to Interstate 75. All this places Hamblen County within a day’s drive of half the nation’s population.

Airports

The immediate area is served by Morristown Municipal Airport, which is a general aviation facility. The runway is 5,700 feet long and 100 feet wide. The facility is attended from daylight to dark. It has aviation gas and jet-fuel facilities and several non-precision
approach systems. It is located adjacent to the Morristown Airport Industrial District.

McGhee-Tyson Airport, located just south of Knoxville, is approximately a one-hour drive from Morristown. It is served by Continental, Delta, Northwest, TWA, United and USAir with commuter service available from American Eagle and Comair. Approximately 58 departures and arrivals mark the daily service out of this facility.

About one hour’s drive north of Morristown is the Tri-City Regional Airport with jet service
by USAir. Commuter service is available from Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA), Comair and USAir Express. There are approximately 32 daily departures and arrivals from this airport.
